I am back home from malacca for the weekends. Read about the 11th Malaysia International Food and Beverage Trade Fair which was held in the Putra World Trade Center, KL, from 22 to 24 July 2010 in The Star newspaper. My parents were very much interested in this kinda fair, especially mum. Thus, we ( dad, mum, sis and me) decided to go there on Saturday. We left home at about 11 smth in the morning and reached there around noon.

We got to know that we have to pay RM10 each for the entrance upon reaching there. Those with business cards could enter for free after registration though. At that point of time, we were thinking whether we should enter. It is definitely not cheap!( for us anyway). "What if there is nothing interesting inside? Then the money would go to waste right?" This was what we thought. However, we decided to buy the entrance ticket in the end since we were already there.

This is the banner showing some basic information about the fair. Guess nasi lemak(nasi=rice lemak=fat, fat rice literally, it's actually normal rice cooked with coconut milk) and teh tarik( pulled tea literally) are sort of our national dishes eh? since their pictures and shown in the banner. Anyway, they are the most widely available food here and have a high ranking in the soul of most Malaysians, if not all.

and these.... are the tickets for 4 of us. Oh, by the way, only those who are 16 and above are allowed to enter. What harm would it do to allow young children to enter i wonder. They are targeting those from the food industry I think. Before entering, we spotted a group of young people, one of whom resembling a senior from my secondary. I cant be sure of it though. He was looking in our direction and looked at us with a familiar face too.

Back to the fair. It was very crowded even though we went on the last day of the fair. These are pictures showing the crowds.

The fair spanned across a few halls. It was a pretty big fair actually. It's divided into a few sections. Each sections having booths set up by people from different countries, introducing food from their countries. Only halal food is available so that everyone in the country can enjoy them.

The first booth that I saw upon entry is 'Thailand', followed by 'Iran', 'Korea', 'China' ...

The booth above, showing 'Iran'. We tried samples of a non-alcoholic malt drink in this booth. It tastes awesome!

Korea booth

The above showing a cute rack which can dance ( or rather move in a circular manner). We tasted the cream and cheese from the booth. The cheese is a tad savoury for our tastebuds though.

Sitting casually in the International Business Lounge?

Tiger beer ...yay or nay?

Stevia! A good news for diabetics! Love to indulge in sweet beverages but can't? Fret not...here comes stevia, which is made from herbs, commonly know as sweetleaf.

These cherry tomatoes are so pretty-looking, aren't they?? Arr...they are simply irresistible...love 'em! and oh, they are good for general health too!

These rockmelons are so perfect- round and huge. I wonder whether they would be sweet and juicy? Too bad they aren't up for sale. Go get from your local supermarket. They give a good boast of antioxidant!! I love ANTIOXIDANT!

Lovable snacks. Take them in moderation ya!

Yummy-looking Pakistan mangoes. Awww....this reminds me of those lip-smacking Indian mangoes, which I had lots during my study in India.

Philippines dried food.

And...again,

Areva juice- good source of antioxidant. I tried the pomegranate juice...it's sourish.

This is the Areva juice that i tried.

Food from Turkey. The best thing is they were giving out free ice-cream! But sadly, we didn't get to try any as the queue was just too long.

The banner for the ice-cream.

Round rusk biscuit - product of Malaysia, made in Kuala Pilah. Mum's favourite, with coffee.

He stand still there all the while, promoting for the Hang Tuah brand of coffee. I wonder how he did that, without blinking his eyes.

Kek Lapis (Layer Cake) Sarawak, anyone?

Sabah tea, I have this tea at home as my sister brought it back from Kota Kinabalu during her trip there.

After that, we went to Pavillion to do some shopping as the Malaysia Mega Sale is here again!
We were famished from all the walking in the mall after shopping for some time. Thus, we headed to the food court in the mall to satisfy our growling stomach. This is my favourite shopping mall food court and we can get the nice food under one roof.

This is the famous Singapore Thye Hong fried prawn noodle. I like it as it is very nice, with adequate moistness. The noodle is kinda unique too. It's translucent and nice to the bite. The prawn given are quite big too. Look at the picture. *drooling*. It's price at RM 7.50 as of date.

Below is the peanut butter wholemeal thick toast from Toast Box, which hails from Singapore too~ It's pretty dear at RM3.60 for a piece of toast. The taste is not bad.

This is mine. Hakka Lui Cha. One of my favourite food but the one served here kinda lacks in condiments. I feel that they are quite stingy in giving the various condiments for RM 9.90. It tasted alright.

That's all for now~till then =]

xxx.

I guess,

I'm officially a facebook addict now.

You?

xoxo.
